Leading social networking site Facebook has announced that it will soon allow US members to bet online via the BetsGoWild.com gambling application.
Although the bets will not be for real money they will still allow the sites 25 million American members to have a wagering outlet that does not infringe the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) introduced by the US government in late 2006.
The first rather dubious bet on offer to Facebook members is: 'Will Paris Hilton be sexually abused in jail?¡±. After the site¡¯s US contingent have placed their bets on Paris¡¯s fate the outcome will be published worldwide.
Other questions which the American public will bet via Facebook include:
'Will the US Assassinate Iranian leader Ahmadinejad by the end of the summer?'
'Are the Red Sox going to the World Series?'
'Should the legal drinking age in America be reduced to 18?'
