PokerStars is without question the leading online poker tournament poker room. PokerStars uses their own unique software which is one of the best poker platforms. The only bad thing about Poker Starts is the fact that the average poker player is a much tougher opponent than at most other online poker rooms. The support is excellent and PokerStars hosts loads of online qualifiers and satellite tournaments ¨C especially WSOP qualifiers. PokerStars is packed with online poker tournaments. Seven Card Stud, Omaha and Texas Holdem (limit and no-limit) tournaments are available with different buy-in. PokerStars is without question the best online poker tournament site.
Poker Stars is a newer entry on the online poker scene but has become a successful poker room with anywhere from 5,000 to 20,000 players in the room at any time. In a short period of time a lot of aspiring poker players have chosen to play here, largely due to
Poker Stars strong commitment to customer support and by focusing on taking the game seriously.
Positive things about the
Poker Stars site include; 6 and 10 seat tables available to players, tournament tables for 2,4,6,8, and 18 players, statistics that can be looked up during game play, custom avatars that can be created using your own custom pictures, and unique features such as transfers between players. While
Poker Stars has tournaments that are as good they advertise they aren't really above the offerings from other poker rooms.
Negative things about the
Poker Stars site include a presentation with graphics that don't look all that good with animations that are 'choppy' and sound effects that could be improved. Game play also is a little slow compared to what is offered at other poker rooms, and the table maximums at the high end are a little low (while this is not likely to be a problem for most there are significantly higher table maximums available at other sites).
Poker Stars is an overall O.K. poker room, but it's not the best online site, and should not be recommended to a new player.
PokerStars.com is a fun and safe place to play poker. It also hit the headlines as the poker room which gave us the 2003 World Series of Poker Champion. If you are not familiar with the story, Chris Moneymaker (his real name!) registered and started playing online at PokerStars. With a small $40 wager he progressed through all rounds to emerge as winner of the PokerStars preliminary tournament. That earned him an all-expenses-paid trip to the Las Vegas World Series of Poker at Binions Horseshoe Casino. After nine days of REAL poker playing, Chris won the last pot, at 12:45 am on Friday, May 23rd., 2003 to pocket an amazing $2.4 million ¨C kicking off a bout of depression in all those who thought online poker players couldn't hack it in the real world.
